Be Prepared

With each passing day, I grow more and more concerned for America. As I watch our political “leaders” flail about in search of a coherent thought, let alone an intelligent policy, foreign or domestic, I am reminded of the words of that eminent sage, Casey Stengel, who, upon assuming the managerial duties of the brand-new, happless New York Mets in 1962, and observing their exquisite ongoing exercise in utter futility, was heard to utter those famous words, “Can’t anybody here play this game?!”

And I can’t entirely blame the politicians. After all, how did they get there? We, the sheeple, voted for them!... Willingly!... Stupidly!!!

It is long past time for everyone to start paying very careful attention to what is going on in the world. If we aren’t informed how can we possibly make an intelligent decision as to whom we should reward with our precious vote. Just look what happens when people don’t pay attention. We end up with a disgraceful President like Bill Clinton. And we almost ended up with his equally disgraceful wife. And we DID end up with something that may turn out to be far, far worse - Barack Hussein Obama.

To my mind, this guy is the most dangerous kind of politician there is. He is young, intelligent, well educated, and perhaps most importantly, extremely charismatic. His speaking style is calm and soothing - almost hypnotic - and if you’re not careful you can find yourself nodding in agreement, even though the substance of what he has said may have been absolutely nonsensical, or worse yet, so far to the left a 180 degree turn would still leave him left of center. And yet, he is the nominee of one of the two major parties for the office of President of the United States.

Let’s put aside all of his dubious associations for a moment and focus instead on some of his stated positions on matters that should be of interest to us.

For example, he has stated that he would sit down and talk without preconditions with Ahmadinijad of Iran. A man who has openly and  repeatedly called for the destruction of America and Israel. A man who believes that by dragging the world into a nuclear conflagration he can hasten the coming of his twelth Imam. A man who is clearly out of his cotton pickin’ mind! With friends like these, who needs enemies?! But this is a man Obama will negotiate with... with no preconditions! I’ll tell you who else is out of his cotton pickin’ mind!

And how do you like those prices at the gas pumps? Great, huh? Well I’ll let you in on a little secret. This country is sitting on enough oil to supply us comfortably for the next 100 years. But we can’t get at it. Do you know why? No, it’s not because we don’t have the technological know-how. It’s not because we don’t have the requisite skill or machinery. It’s because miserable politicians like Obama kowtow to the lunatics in their party who worship at the altar of the environment, and who believe that man is a despoiler of the Earth. So while you’re struggling to pay more than $4.00 a gallon at the pump so you can drive to work or to the supermarket, these mini-despots are jetting off in their gas-guzzling planes to attend fund raisers at the energy-guzzling homes of their rich, deluded supporters. It’s enough to make you sick!

So pay attention! The election is in November and it will be here before you know it. Remember, be careful what you ask for... you just might get it.
