As if things in Israel weren't ridiculous enough already, we are now faced with the spectre of a Prime Minister, in the face of a disaffected electorate, resigning in order to gain a political advantage over his chief opponent. Obviously, Ehud Barak has learned well at the feet of his masters, Bill (the Perjurer-in-Chief) Clinton and Al (I never met a Buddhist nun I didn't like) Gore. As he has seen repeatedly demonstrated by these "luminaries," the main thing to remember is this:
EVERYTHING IS ABOUT ME!!
I'm elected to public office and entrusted with leadership, by my fellow citizens?
How does it affect me?!
The people I was elected to represent and protect are being slaughtered by merciless, sub-human terrorists?
How does it affect me?!
The sworn enemies of my people and my country are making outrageous demands, and extorting dangerous concessions under the guise of peace negotiations?
How does it affect me?!
Well, Mr. Barak, let me tell you how this will affect you.
For deserting your people in the face of unrelenting pressure from without and within, you, together with your disasterous mentors, will be consigned to the dustbin of history.
For your silence in the face of barbaric acts of terrorism against your people, you will be left mute before the court of heavenly justice.
For your craven surrender to your misguided sense of self-preservation, you will be left defenseless against the withering accusations of a vengeful prosecuting angel.
Shall I go on? I think you get the point.
There is however, Mr. Barak, a way out. It is not too late - indeed it is never too late - to repent. Cast aside the deal you made with the Clintonian devil and stand up for the preservation of your people and your country. You are the most decorated soldier in Israel's history. Clearly, you had what it takes. The only question is, do you still have it? Can you rise above your own petty self-interest and come to the realization that your survival depends on the survival of the country and not the other way around?
Here's hoping.
